What We Require:Education: Must be a graduate from a surgical assisting program accredited through NSAA or ARC-ST, a collaborative effort of AST, ACS, and SASA, by CAAHEP. CAAHEP is a recognized accreditation agency of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In addition, programs located in educational institutions that are institutionally accredited by agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE). The Joint Commission or a state agency acceptable to CAAHEP and the ARC-ST. The ARC-ST is also a member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA).
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Licensure/certification: Certification conferred by the Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a Certified First Assistant (CFA) or National Surgical Assistant Certification by NSAA is required. AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Satisfactory completion of structured orientation program
Excellent communications skills. Critical thinking skills
