Organizes, coordinates, and supervises the recreational and respite activities of the Family Support Services Department.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in teaching or related fields preferred. Experience within the field of respite/programming, as well as working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills required. Prior administrative experience in respite care preferred. Must maintain qualified NYS driver’s license throughout employment. If possesses an out of state driver’s license, then must obtain a qualified NYS driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire, and maintain throughout employment.Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Practices and promotes the agency’s mission statement in every interaction. Adheres to all regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook, and agency and program training requirements. Reports to the Justice Center, as a mandated reporter, if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect. Additionally, must follow all agency incident policy and procedures. Arranges all materials for activities to ensure programs are properly prepared. Ensures all staff adhere to all federal, state, and department of health regulations and agency policy and procedures. Leads and supports staff effectively for all respite activities. Facilitates activities to meet program needs, which can include virtual and in-person programs. Creates new, cost-effective, and age-appropriate recreational programs to provide new person-centered opportunities for individuals supported. Investigates problems and takes needed corrective action to ensure that individuals’ needs are addressed. Reports and documents, as per regulation and/or agency policy and procedures, any events and activities that may hinder the health, safety, and well-being of individuals at respite (i.e., allegations of abuse, injuries, broken equipment, etc.). Oversees the on-going implementation of the quality assurance program and ensures that respite remains in compliance with OPWDD regulations, and Department of Health Children’s Respite regulations, as well as respite policy and procedures. Assists in acquiring and managing necessary paperwork to ensure the program remains in compliance. Implements and completes all internal incident reports/investigations for review by Citizens internal review board. Participates in the ordering of needed materials for activities to teach staff and respite individuals throughout the year. Performs all other related duties as requested by the Assistant Director, Director, Senior Director, Associate Executive Director and/or Executive Director.
