Job Summary

Dominion Energy is currently seeking a Supervisor for the Mechanical and Civil Engineering design team in the Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) Project organization at North Anna Power Station located on beautiful Lake Anna in Mineral, VA just 50 miles northwest of Richmond.

 

This position will report to the Manager - Nuclear Projects SLR. The selected candidate will provide leadership and direction to a team of design engineers supporting station modifications required to extend the operating life of the nuclear power generating units at North Anna, ensuring safe, cost effective and reliable operation through 80 years of service. In this role the selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

•    Oversight of all technical design aspects for the Mechanical / Civil engineering discipline of SLR projects requiring site and/or corporate support and selected Engineering vendors.

•    Coordination of quality Owner’s acceptance reviews of supporting engineering deliverables (Engineering Changes, Calculations, Procurement Specifications, Engineering Studies) provided by third-party vendors and/or corporate and station resources.

•    Direct Supervision of the Mechanical and Civil engineers with respect to quality of work and performance management.

•    Mentoring a broad spectrum of direct reports to achieve their individual career aspirations.

•    Defining design support needs and hiring of requisite Mechanical & Civil engineering resources.

•    Assisting the Project Management team with grouping of projects into refueling outage and on-line work periods in accordance with the SLR Long Range Plan.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

•    BS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering plus 7 years of engineering/nuclear experience (must have at least 2 years of nuclear experience)

•    Demonstrate an ability to understand a wide variety of topics and be sufficiently intrusive to ensure all work items under their area of responsibility are produced with the highest of quality including technical accuracy.

•    Exhibit extreme ownership of the performance of this team, persisting through adversity, and following through on commitments.

•    Effectively lead direct reports to achieve safe and efficient execution of work.

•    Comfortable challenging and correcting behaviors in the pursuit of high standards of performance.

•    Demonstrate strong integrity, professionalism, and safety biased behavioral standards.

•    Proactively communicate information and decisions to personnel at all levels in a manner that is clear, concise, honest and direct.

•    Demonstrate and promote a clear bias for action to resolve issues while exhibiting sound judgment and conservative decision making.

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s):  Engineering (Civil or Mechanical preferred)

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.4.8 (must be documented on form HR-AA-101)

Education:  Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related science.

Minimum Experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 4 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.  On site experience to include .25 yr.

Note:  Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (7+ years required for Supv Nuclear Engineering).
