This role ensures the efficient and reliable operation of robotic systems, automated sample handling, and pre-analytical processing. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, process engineering, medical laboratory science, or a related field. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and process optimization skills to drive efficiency, quality, and compliance. The schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday (12:00am - 8:30am).

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise the day to day operations of the specimen processing pre-analytical departmentSupervise and support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab automation and robotics systems.Oversee pre-analytical workflows, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.Serve as a critical liaison between specimen processing and analytical testing departmentsCoordinate specimen workflow to ensure timely delivery to appropriate testing sectionsMonitor specimen integrity and troubleshoot pre-analytical issues that may impact test resultsDirectly supervise, train, and mentor team of lab automation specialists in the departmentCollaborate with engineering, IT, and laboratory teams to optimize workflows and resolve automation issues.Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate coverageResponsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffedResearch and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessaryLead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, error reduction, and workflow standardization.Monitor system performance, analyze data, and implement solutions for equipment optimization and downtime reduction.Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracyPrepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documentsImplement and maintain specimen tracking systems to ensure chain of custodyMeet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their developmentResponsible for administering and managing policies and proceduresProcess and maintain payroll and personnel filesPerform administrative duties as neededQualifications and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociates or higher in laboratory science, engineering, process engineering or related field preferred3 years of relevant operations experience in a clinical laboratory setting, lab automation, robotics, or pre-analytical operations.Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data analyticsUnderstanding of laboratory testing workflows and pre-analytical variablesHigh level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skillsPrevious supervisory or experience leading teams in a laboratory, manufacturing, or automation environment is a plusStrong understanding of laboratory automation systems, robotics, and high-throughput workflowsProficiency in process and workflow optimization and troubleshooting automated systems.Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeExperience with CAP, CLIA, or other laboratory regulatory requirements is a plusExperience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies preferredStrong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environmentHands-on experience with liquid handling robots, automated specimen processing, or pre-analytical analyzers preferredAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.If you're looking for a career that offers opportunities for growth, continual development, professional challenge and the chance to make a real difference, apply today!
