Key job responsibilities
The AWS Builder Tools team is looking for a Software Support Engineer who will act as first level support for software application issues dealing with Brazil, Apollo, OS Patching, Test Automation, Software Assurance Services, Codex and the other tools that thousands of Amazon developers use every day.
Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues, performing software maintenance and configuration, automation, updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges. The ability to effectively use Linux operating system commands is essential for carrying out troubleshooting tasks.
As you grow into your role, you will take on responsibility for more and more complex solutions requiring greater technical capabilities. You will be expected to collaborate closely with the Software Development Engineers (SDEs) on the team, providing them with data and insights on the tickets that are currently being handled manually. Together, you will work to identify opportunities to automate these ticket workflows, with the goal of enhancing support efficiency and improving the overall experience for our customers and internal users (builders).
The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.

The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization has a mission of creating the world’s best builder experience across tens of thousands of software engineers, and all Amazon businesses (e.g., AWS, Amazon Stores, etc.). Our Builder Tools team in ASBX owns the software development tools Amazon software teams use to develop, release, and manage their software. Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of technical support experience
- Experience with software development lifecycle
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical support experience
- Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
- Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $182,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
