Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist

The objective of this role is to manage and administer ALDI Supply Chain programs by economically securing product for the business, which in turn, promotes the company’s objectives of maximizing sales and controlling expenses. In addition, the position will assist with the advancement of numerous Supply Chain initiatives in accordance with company guidelines.

The Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist will assist ALDI in working to achieve transport sustainability. The ideal candidate has industry experience and/or a specialized education that can be used to investigate viable supply chain sustainability solutions for the future. This candidate should be comfortable networking externally with outside entities as well as working cohesively with internally impacted business domains. Due to the various pilots and initiatives in action, project organization and multitasking are imperative. Position Type: Full-Time Work Location: Batavia, IL (Temporary location: Naperville, IL)
This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).

Duties and Responsibilities:  Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.   • Informs management of impending legislative, sustainability, and social matters.  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations to leadership on new transport programs that could be implemented to address emerging trends. • Supports direct leader in the training of new employees.  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive sustainability strategies. • Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility. • Builds and maintains relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other partners to promote sustainability practices and standards. • Manages reporting requirements for all teams by working with the appropriate managers and assistants to ensure accurate submission to stakeholders. • Maintains Supply Chain Sustainability programs and procedures in conjunction with management. • Conducts extensive research within area of responsibility and creates reports/summaries on the appropriate course of action to take. • Develops and maintains knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Sustainability industry trends. • Maintains full knowledge of and supports further development of the company’s Supply Chain Sustainability policies, goals, and key performance indicators (national and international). • Ensures compliance with environmental, social and governance requirements and mitigates risk associated with non-compliance. • Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership. • Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies if job responsibilities include possible access to confidential and/or sensitive information. • Other duties as assigned.   Job-specific Competencies:  Knowledge/Skills/Abilities   • Consistently demonstrates the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as outlined for the role. • Gives attention to detail and follows instruction. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Effective time management; maximizes productivity. • Prepares written materials to meet purpose and audience. • Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external parties. • Advanced knowledge of Excel.  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations based on findings.  • Knowledge of products and services of the company.    Education and Experience:   • Associate's Degree in Business, Economics, Sustainability, Supply Chain or a related field required. • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Sustainability required. • Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.    Physical Requirements:   • Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties. • Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another. • Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse. • Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.    Travel:   • Domestic travel required. • Up to 10%.
