Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders.

What you will be doing as an Inbound Logistics - Corporate Intern:

The projects that will be given to the Inbound Logistics - Corporate interns will be focused in key areas of the supply chain and provide an opportunity for cross functional development. The project will be related to ensuring inbound product flow is planned and executed with a customer focus.

Inbound Logistics Internships will be focused on the daily operations of the Fresh, General Merchandise or Grocery teams; projects will be related to freight cost savings, on-time delivery, and carrier performance. Other areas of focus include the Systems team which will be specific to reporting, routing, and rate negotiations and the Reverse Unloading team which will focus on product return compliance and unloading efficiency at the warehouse.

Past internship projects have included reducing softlines shrink, cost avoidance of less than truck/small parcel spend, vendor delay cost accountability, and inbound consolidation delay visibility. This internship will be a well-rounded experience that shows the span and opportunity within Meijer Logistics and provides an end-to-end Supply Chain experience.

Qualifications:

Progressing toward a bachelor’s degree in:Supply Chain ManagementLogistics ManagementGeneral Business ManagementInternational BusinessAdditional qualificationsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Analytics skills - familiar with data analytics processes and software such as Power BI, SQL.Drive for results - has focus on the bottom line.Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers.Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies.Communication Skills - conveys the right information in writing and verbally.Problem Solving - Probes all fruitful sources for answers and looks beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data.
