Job Description
The main objective of a Supplier Quality Engineer is to ensure that products and supplies from vendors are of high quality, free of damages or defects, and meet company standards. The role involves advising on quality improvements, overseeing manufacturing processes, logistics, and supply chain management, and developing relationships with suppliers.
ResponsibilitiesAdvise on increasing the quality of products and suggest improvements to manufacturing processes.Oversee manufacturing processes, logistics, and supply chain management issues.Develop relationships with suppliers and act as a liaison between them and company representatives.Create reports and databases of provider information to ensure the company works with high-quality vendors.Drive and further develop relationships with current supply partners to improve daily performance at the lowest cost.Investigate manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost savings with current supply partners.Seek and develop new potential supplier partners.Analyze engineering specifications and customer expectations to determine sourcing requirements.Monitor and manage supplier on-time delivery and quality performance.Create and promote strategies to increase the quality and efficiency of systems and products.Coordinate processes to ensure all purchased materials meet engineering specifications, quality system requirements, cost expectations, inventory requirements, and delivery expectations.Monitor prepared reports for Purchase Price Variance, Key Supplier Metrics, Scrap Levels, Quality, and On-Time Delivery.Initiate and drive implementation of sourcing projects from start to finish.Essential SkillsBS Degree in Engineering with 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience or 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience without a degree.Experience in automated MRP/MPS and/or Kanban systems managing inventory control (open to any ERP system).Knowledge of Six Sigma.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, statistical trending, and data analysis.CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).Root Cause analysis techniques such as 8Ds, 5Whys, and Fishbone Diagrams.Material Review Board (MRB) and Return Material Authorization (RMA) experience.Experience working in a manufacturing environment.Experience working with suppliers.Additional Skills & QualificationsElectronic/Electrical experience.Experience in an ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing environment.Industry Quality experience (PPAP, ISO/TS) and Advanced Product Quality Planning.ASQ Certification.Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in a very clean manufacturing environment. The Supplier Quality Engineer will work at the main plant location and may need to float between different plants. The typical workday involves focusing on development with new and existing suppliers, working with raw materials, issuing defects, and inspecting materials through the Materials Review Board (MRB). The work involves both desk work and interacting with vendors and suppliers.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
