Supplier Quality Engineer

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet the company’s quality standards and requirements by working with the Global Supply Chain and Global Engineering Departments in the assessment and development of the strategic global supply chain. The Supplier Quality Engineer role involves evaluating, monitoring, and improving supplier performance through audits, inspections, and collaboration. The Supplier Quality Engineer provides strong, demonstrated leadership to quickly manage supplier-related issues and drive continual improvements in global supplier performance. + Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure alignment on quality expectations and standards. Liaison between product engineers, manufacturing, and vendors. + Supplier Evaluation: Leads, or participates in cross functional supplier validation audits, quality assessments, and supplier manufacturing capability studies. Review supplier processes, adherence to processes, and process improvement. + Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control processes for incoming materials, components, and assemblies. + Problem Solving: Conduct onsite supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective action plans. + Performance Monitoring: Track and report supplier performance metrics, including defect rates, delivery timelines, and compliance to required certifications. + Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of supplier quality assessments, audits, and performance reviews. + Continuous Improvement: Support, Lead, and Drive initiatives to improve supplier quality, reduce defects, and enhance overall supplier performance. Responsible for the proper use of quality tools and methods, such as DOE, RCCA, 8D, MSA, FAI, sampling plans, process capability analysis, FTA and SPC to help resolve supplier quality issues in an efficient and effective manner. 1. **Education** + Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified from start) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (DTEM) or related discipline from an accredited institution. 1. **Experience** + A minimum of 5+ years in Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, or Supplier Quality Management within an industrial manufacturing environment (automotive, heavy equipment or heavy custom “make to order” industries). + Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001) + Strong knowledge of welding (AWS and EN) + Excellent data analytics and reporting skills + Experience with supplier audits and assessments 1. **Other Requirements** + Ability to travel internationally and domestically 1. **Interpersonal Skills** + Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse cross functional global environment. + Ability to effectively plan and organize. + Strong judgment skills – must be able to make decisions with little guidance. 1. **Technical Skills** + Proficient with MS Office, ERP systems, Data analytics + Proficient with quality tools and methodologies (A3, 8D, Sig Sigma) + Ability to read, analyze, communicate, and interpret technical data/drawings. **Preferred Qualifications** + Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher + ASQ CQE certification **IV.
