About the Position: Supervisory physicist, in the area of Metrology and Calibration at the highest level of accuracy within the U.S. Army Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)Activity (USATA). Responsibilities Directs the radiation protection program and provides health physics services for the organization and other Army activities. Plans research and development of efforts necessary for advancement of the state-of-the-art in radiation metrology in the assigned mission area. Performs the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties Identifies developmental and training needs of employees and then arranges for the needed training and finds ways to increase the quality of the work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position is subject to a salary control point established in the AMCOM Acquisition Demo Business Rules. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physics, or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics. The courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Leadership Physics Technical Competence In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the Specialized experience which includes work that involves: Leading research projects in areas such as nucleonic, photonics, lasers, electro-optics, nuclear counting and/or Radiac TMDE; 2) Facilitating the transfer of new research findings into practical applications for defense technologies; and 3) Ensuring development of acquisition processes adhere to safety security and regulatory requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03)/GS-13.
