SUMMARY:
Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of the paper machine production, quality, immediate maintenance coordination and safety. This supervision includes hourly employees on shift, and indirect supervision over more employees on off shifts. The supervisor performs safety, quality, process, and mechanical checks and understands and aligns business operations as they execute the role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to the following:
Work directly with and supervise a team of operations technicians Direct and support activities and personnel compliance in developing a safe work environment and a fostering a culture of safe performance Achieve productivity by establishing and communicating clear goals, providing requisite resources to the team, engaging the team, and setting appropriate priorities and monitoring progress Achieve desired level of engagement by providing leadership on the shift. Engagement includes listening and responding to employee issues, taking decisive actions, recognizing excellent performance, and holding employees accountable for performance and personal actions Achieve quality and waste goals by ensuring all direct reports are properly trained on equipment, following proper procedures, performing requisite inspections, and acting upon suggested improvements Administer, communicate, and interpret work procedures and company policies Perform other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (Paper Science, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration, or related field); or significant, closely related work experience required in lieu of degree. (2-5) years of manufacturing supervisory experience, required. Continuous Improvement – Lean/Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
