Supervisor Accounts Payable - Expense

Purpose:

This individual in this position is responsible for supervising all aspects of the company’s expense/freight accounts payable process. This includes but not limited to, processing and payment of invoices, reconciliation and reporting of key metrics, as well as overseeing the company’s purchasing card program and reconciliation of duty payments. This position will also be a key contributor for all accounts payable related projects, process improvements, and system implementations.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and 3-5 years (including 2 years of supervisory experience) in Accounts Payable, Accounting or Treasury experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the companyKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and proceduresStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively across all business functionsAbility to communicate with all levels within the organizationAbility to maintain accuracy in a very detailed work environmentProficient with PC accounting software, Internet-based programs, MS Office SuitePrior experience with Alteryx, Oracle, SAP, JDA or Coupa systems a plusIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelCustomer service driven, detail-oriented self-starter with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem resolution skills

Essential Job Functions:

Read, analyze, and interpret procedures and policies/regulationsPresent information and respond to questions from associates, vendors, and customersSolve practical problems and working with a variety of variablesInterpret a variety of instructionsCalculate figures and amounts and apply principles of accountingSupervises and trains a team of 4 or more professionals in a department characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processesCarry out supervisor responsibilities to include interviewing/selection, training, employee development and engagement, and performance managementThorough knowledge of the functional area under supervisionOwn ultimate responsibility for timely vendor paymentsDevelop an effective meeting and reporting rhythm within the team, holding both individual and group touchpointsServe as the ultimate point of escalation for all past due to AP, invoice processing/matching, duplicate payment, and vendor dispute issuesBuild relationships and develop report-out cadence with management to drive effective dispute resolution and optimize vendor and customer relationshipsMaintain, review and update AP policies and procedures manual and ensuring that they are disseminated to all appropriate staffPerform analytical review and reporting within Accounts PayablePartner with Operations and Accounting Team to address invoice issuesWork with internal and external auditors as requiredManage Corporate credit card program and expense reporting software systemOther responsibilities and duties as defined from time to time by the Accounts Payable Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL & ENVIRONMENT):

Limited travel required including air and carWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY    REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
