Job overview and responsibilities

Manage the overall Finance, Accounting, Banking, Tax and general administration functions of United’s branch office in Senegal. This includes but is not limited to:

Ensure proper internal controls, compliance to local government/company policies requirements. Contract negotiations, payments, banking, cash forecasting. Filing all monthly and annual staturoty accounts and government compliance. Complete monthly payroll process and all associated tax and regulatory filings. Filing all tax, VAT, departure taxes. Implementing and maintaining efficient finance and accounting procedures for the country.In addition, this role provides management support to legal departments, HR department, Cargo, Airport and Sales departments.

Local understanding of the law is imperative for the success of this position. Work with business partners to ensure compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures.

KEY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

Manage perform daily local accounting (AR, AP administration, payroll, reconciliation, budgeting) and administration (statutory reporting, treasury/cash forecasting, tax/VAT reporting and compliance, facility management) functions and represents United in dealing with IATA, bankers and tax authorities in country (50%)Ensures development and implementation of adequate internal financial controls in order to safeguard company assets, verify accuracy and reliability of accounting data and promote operational efficiency and adherence to management policy and local government requirements (20%)Coordinate with City Ticket office and Airport office related to ticket sales report, cash collection vertification and Internal controls. Reconcile BSP and Cargo sales and ensure timely receipts (20%)Coordinates with Regional Office and to resolve accounting and system related problems and streamline work processes to meet pre defined standards(10%)

KEY OUTPUTS / RESULTS

Submit and maintain all government statutory registers and filings, resulting in zero penalties for country AP – All local invoices submitted in time for accurate payments, resulting in zero penalties for countryEnsure all sales (Agency, Cargo and direct sales) are reconciled and received in timely mannerMeet department and individual goals – timely Budgeting, accounting and MIS. Ensure cost variances are under control.Standard and consistent accounting process

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Commerce Graduate and above from a reputed UniversityCPA Accounting Certification or Similar equivalent certificationGood communicator, Analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.Fluency in English and French language (written and oral).Knowledge of Local Tax and corporate laws and regulationsCompetent in Payroll Senegalese payroll taxes. Competent in Senegalese statutory tax and annual accounting filingsAt least 5-6 years of experience in accountingIntermediate to advance level knowledge of MS Excel and presentation skills
