Summary: Assists and manages the enhancement of both technical and financial performance of the department under the direction of the RSPC Manager, including supervision of milk receiving, milk inventories, production, sanitation, production specifications, product quality and management of all personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Analyzes and evaluates information concerning daily operations and how these results positively or negatively affect plant performance.
2. Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems.
3. Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
4. Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
5. Monitors inventories of milk, cream, starter and all other materials required for production.
6. Ensures that production specifications are in line with Company standards and ensures that the loss of fat and protein is minimized (and consistent with the budget). Takes corrective action immediately when necessary.
7. Reports production problems and/or concerns to the RSPC Manager.
8. Assists RSPC Manager with planning and scheduling manpower consistent with production requirements. Continuously evaluates manpower to attempt to reduce labor costs.
9. Works closely with Quality Control Manager and Laboratory personnel on a wide variety of areas including quality of raw materials, product specifications good manufacturing and sanitation practices.
10. Assists RSPC Manager in coordinating production activity.
11. Continually evaluates staff/department performance.
Qualifications:
• Basics mathematical skills are required (must be able to calculate averages)
• Dairy or other related experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be dependable and be able to work well in a team environment.
Education and/or Experience:
• High School Diploma Required.
• Bachelors degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry preferred.
