Job Title:        Supervisor, Purchasing         

Location:        Richmond, VA       

 

What we are looking for:

 

We are seeking a Supervisor, Purchasing to develop purchasing strategies, foster positive relationships with suppliers, and oversee the purchasing team in their daily activities.

 

This position will oversee direct and indirect material spend of $175M+ for two manufacturing plants located in Richmond, VA and will be responsible for developing a team of 8-10 professionals and implementing tools / processes that improve operating performance of the department. 

 

We are looking for an individual that has passion and demonstrated success in managing supply chain and operations process improvements, as well as an individual that can gain credibility as a business partner. The successful candidate should have:

 

Business acumen and a passion for making a difference in the business The ability to drive processes across a system, see trends and analyze data Experience in managing a team with role model leadership characteristics Experience with expanding partnerships with the supply base and instilling continuous improvement both with internal team members and the external supply base

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

Leading tactical and strategic purchasing initiatives to ensure purchased goods and services are available on-time, at the lowest total cost to the business Developing and implementing inventory and purchasing strategies (VMI, Kanban, MRP, 3PL, etc.) to assure material availability for production Working closely with production control, operations, and engineering to identify supply constraints and mitigate customer impact Partnering with functional peers to improve visibility and accuracy of purchased requirements through BOM Accuracy, SIOP, and Inventory Accuracy Managing supplier relations and escalations in conjunction with Site Sourcing Collaborating with Sourcing to support cost reduction goals for purchased parts, implement monthly PPV reviews, and identify opportunities to improve performance Ensuring the accuracy of all purchasing master data Training and developing team members on both technical and behavioral skills Working closely with Supplier Quality to facilitate supplier corrective actions and compliance to DFR Supplier Quality Manual Leading continuous improvement activities related to purchasing processes, tools, and communication Improving performance to department KPIs on Supplier OTD, PPV, PO Processing Time and E&O reduction

 

What are the basic qualifications?

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or ability to obtain certification (APICS CPIM, CSCP, or ISM CPSM), equivalent purchasing experience. Minimum of three (3) years in supply chain, manufacturing scheduling/planning, or other relevant experience Minimum of two (2) years’ experience managing direct reports

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

Experience of progressive experience in Manufacturing & Supply Chain Experience in procurement-related functions User experience in an ERP system APICS CPIM, CSCP or ISM CPSM certification Lean / Six Sigma experience AS400 and /or Oracle experience Advanced Excel skills Project Management experience Contract Review / Management experience Experience with Power BI or similar analytics platform Experience in an S&OP environment
