Compensation includes a base salary of $48,200.00 - $72,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

This position supervises and directs the daily activities of the lot personnel and the lot operations function for the Auction and ensures the efficient, orderly and proper check in, staging and moving of vehicles on the lot and through the sales lanes.

Key Responsibilities

Review work volumes; plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.  Supervise and direct the work of operations team by determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, expediting workflow, assigning duties, and examining work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.Review Kronos for missing punches, proper posting of time off, and department transfers. Submit any necessary paperwork to the ESC for timely processing.Coach and discipline employees, monitor and evaluate job performance, and conduct performance appraisals.Make decisions or recommendations regarding hiring, firing, promotion, or other employment status changes for direct reports.  Monitor the operations team to ensure customer contract expectations are met. Review and implement customer specifications and check-in procedures, including security and handling of personal property and identity information left in vehicles.Ensure vehicles are checked in, stock number sticker on, and keys (if provided) are secured and noted in the inventory system.Direct and coordinate vehicle movement to designated lot locations.Verify biohazard units and ensure proper safety procedures are followed in the handling of the vehicle.Respond to customer inquiries relating to vehicles.  Provide quality service and assist in resolving problems.Make sure that any vehicles flagged for work are moved in a timely manner.  Assist in vehicle movement as necessary to ensure a smooth operational process (redemptions, sold units, etc).Document all changes and charges to the vehicle on the related stock number comments section in the inventory system.Coordinate with Account Administrators to set vehicles for sale. Direct sale line parking and number vehicles for sale.Conduct sale line audits, make corrections, and provide feedback to leadership.  Coordinate with Mechanic and assist with checking sale vehicles for gas, tires, attachment of drive train, and starting capabilities.Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.  Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Minimum

High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 3 years’ experience in a related field; a master's degree and 1 year of experience; or a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experienceValid driver’s license and safe driving record required.   Ability to pass OSHA forklift/heavy equipment certification program with recertification every 3 years. Previous experience preferred in lot operations, vehicle inspection, or the automotive industry.  Strong communication and interaction skills required.Good computer and software knowledge, as well as experience with AS400 essential.Ability to work well with others and maintain focus and productivity under compressed deadlines.  Commitment to providing excellent customer service essential.Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.  Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.Required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.Ability to lift 1-30lbs (light hand tools).Manual dexterity, repetitive motions tasks.Vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  

Preferred

3 years’ previous supervisory experience preferred.Competent organizational skills required.

Work Environment

Exposure to outdoor elements, including extreme heat and cold.  Moderate noise level.  Exposed to risks and hazards such as sharp/jagged metal and parts, broken glass, hazardous or caustic chemicals.  Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and graphic human biohazards.
