Position Purpose

The Supervisor of Lockshop & Structural Trades supervises repair and maintenance activities pertaining to, and the staff associated with, the structural trades division; including locksmiths, structural and carpentry trades, painting, masonry, plastering, roofing, glazing, etc. The Supervisor ensures strict adherence to Brown’s quality and design standards, is responsible for preventive maintenance performance and inventory management systems, and upkeep of databases, and contributes expertise to departmental initiatives. The Supervisor works with the Manager of Structural Trades to implement strategic plans and initiatives outlined and set forth for the division.
Job Qualifications and Competencies
+ Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
+ 5 years of experience within Facilities Management; at least 3 years of experience supervising staff; experience supervising staff in a union environment preferred
+ Expertise in hierarchical key control
+ Proficient in the upkeep of electronic databases and associated key software technologies
+ Expertise in procurement processes related to facilities management
+ Expertise in the installation of keyway systems, key dispensing technologies, equipment tracking and electronic locking systems
+ Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials of the trades
+ High level of knowledge of hierarchical key control and upkeep of electronic databases and associated key software technologies.
+ High level of skill in the lockshop and structural trades
+ Ability to assign, plan and supervise the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance workers
+ Ability to make accurate labor and material cost estimates
+ Ability to read blueprints, plans, and specifications
+ Ability to analyze maintenance, repair, and construction data and to make recommendations pertaining to safety, quality, and efficiency
+ Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate the work of others
+ Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
+ Ability to enter, track, and complete accurate records, including time and material costs, leaves of absences, etc.
+ Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes
+ Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques
+ Demonstrated commitment to customer service
+ Strong computer skills (CMMS, Google Suite, Microsoft Office products, email)
+ Ability to foster a collaborative, team centered environment
+ Must be able to work effectively with a diverse population
