Position Information Position Information Position Availability: Position Title: Superintendent Requisition Number: 0206074286 Location New York City Position Type: Maintenance Position Status: Full-Time Department: CA/Facilities Mgmt Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities, the superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance and housekeeping operations in an assigned building, or group of buildings. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between The New School and Local 32BJ-SEIU.

Key Responsibilities Supervision of handymen and porters Monitor and maintain all HVAC equipment Daily inspection of all building systems and premises Assignment of all work order requests to the appropriate staff members Assure that all areas are kept in clean and safe manner Perform diagnostic and routine maintenance Perform preventive maintenance according to departmental standards Familiarity with all plumbing shut off valves and electrical panels Monitor all fire safety systems and maintain all building safety logs Conduct DOH cooling tower water testing Cooperate with all DOB, DEP, and FDNY inspectors. Monitor elevator operations – work with vendor to ensure proper elevator service Oversight of all vendors and contractors working within the building Work with the Assistant Director of EHS to ensure proper storage and usage of any chemical or hazardous substances Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs Perform basic carpentry work and painting as directed Maintain all equipment and supply inventories Primary point of contact with building occupants for Facilities related concerns Report all building deficiencies to the Assistant Director of Facilities Perform related duties, as assigned.
Work ModeOn-Campus Position – Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.
Hourly Rate$37.201 Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications Prior experience in maintenance and/or building operations Familiarity and proficiency with basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks Ability to read, write and communicate with co-workers and the University community, in English Commitment to customer service and improving the campus environment.
