Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a safe working environment for employees, equipment, and processes. Manage a workforce of 67 workers, including 12 supervisors. Take full control of furnace operational performance daily. Oversee slag and iron chemistry in collaboration with the Technology section. Ensure the development and enforcement of operational standards and procedures. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using the MOC system. Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and document control standards (ISO 9001, 14000, 18001). Manage and optimize a department budget exceeding SAR 100M per year. Ensure rapid response and resolution of process failures. Foster strong cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders. Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process inefficiencies. Oversee accurate reporting of weekly and monthly production data and stock control. Coordinate and manage shutdowns and standby duties as per schedule. Manage raw material stockpiles and requirements in collaboration with Technology and Treatment sections. Chair key operational meetings, including production, quality, safety, and incident investigations. Oversee recruitment, workforce development, and HR-related activities for the furnaces section. Collaborate closely with the Treatment Manager to ensure stable operations across sections. Mentor, coach, and develop succession planning strategies within the department. Ensure competency levels of subordinates align with operational requirements and assist with training delivery. Act as a stand-in for the Production Manager when required Education:
Degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (BTech Acceptable). Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in arc furnace operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role, including 2 years at a middle management level. 10 years of heavy industry experience in pyrometallurgical processes preferred. Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of pyro-metallurgical processes and furnace operations. Experience in refractories, heat transfer, and smelting technologies. Ability to manage large-scale production budgets and cost controls. Strong leadership and workforce management skills. Experience in project management, planning, and scheduling. Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including external stakeholders. Experience in recruitment, training, and HR-related activities. Ability to compile and present technical reports.
