POSITION TITLE: Summer Intern - Office of Technology Development (OTD)

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Join the Office of Technology Development (OTD) team as a summer intern to support key technology transfer, business development, and licensing functions. In this role, you will assess cutting-edge early-stage technologies, identify strategic industry partners, develop marketing materials, and contribute to ongoing projects that advance innovation at Scripps Research. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of science, business, and technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Support multiple stages of asset-specific assessment, including technological, patentability, and commercial. Identify potential licensees/collaborators of technology. Use competitive intelligence databases and other resources to research industry landscape, potential partners, relevant technologies, and historical/comparable terms & transactions. Develop non-confidential marketing materials to support business development activities. Generate and maintain OTD-relevant reports, analyses, and dashboards. Assist Licensing and Transactions team with administrative needs associated with licensee/partner compliance in contractual matters including tracking and sourcing progress reports. Update and track disclosures and agreements in Inteum (database), ensuring activity is documented and related documents are attached. Provide administrative and general support for ongoing OTD projects and initiatives as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or a Graduate Degree in a STEM-related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, computer science), business. Strong scientific technical and analytical skills. Basic exposure to business development concepts. Willingness to work across diverse therapeutic areas and modalities. A self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity. Self-reliance and a positive attitude towards collaborative work. Ability to take direction, remain detail-oriented, and highly organized. High proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to describe scientific concepts to a diverse audience.

COMPENSATION: 

The expected hiring range for this position is $17.25 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
