Here’s your chance to gain valuable work experience with a leading health care provider! This internship will begin on 5/27/25 and the duration of the internship program is 12 weeks. Please note that this is a hybrid position; some work will be done in our Portland offices and some remotely. Interns must live in Maine throughout the 12-week program. The pay rate is $20/hr. Job Description The primary focus of this internship is to work on projects related to the following: Unclaimed property under Accountant’s supervision: + Compile, reconcile, and maintain spreadsheets for unclaimed property item due for submission during the current fiscal year + Help prepare letters to vendors/providers with unclaimed property (MS Excel spreadsheet maintenance and mail-merge in MS Word) + Manage the inbox for unclaimed property and escalate questions as needed + Research discrepancies using Sage, check registers, and bank data as needed Vendor maintenance under Senior Accounts Payable Specialist supervision: + Reconcile vendor data in Excel spreadsheets + Update vendor data for 1099’s in Sage + Update confirm letters for auditors Check handling under Accountant’s supervision (support for accounting assistants): + Preparing PDFs for checks printing according to the instructions + Matching checks with remittances and stuffing them into envelopes + Performing control procedures to ensure accuracy Skills, Education and Experience: + Currently enrolled in two or four-year degree program, with a focus on Accounting, Finance, Business or a related major preferred + Genuine interest in the health care industry + Ability to provide the highest level of customer service both to internal and external customers, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills + Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail + Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner + Ability to work independently along with work collaboratively across the department and organization + Ability to prioritize tasks within an assigned project + Effective time management skills + Flexibility in tackling assignments of varying complexity + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel(intermediate), or strong willingness to learn + Experience working in an administrative and/or customer service-oriented environment preferred We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
