Sugarloaf Banquet Sous Chef
Overview Sugarloaf Resort is looking for a talented, creative, motivated and organized culinary leader to join our team as our new year-round Banquet Sous Chef. Our Banquet Sous Chef will lead the banquet kitchen team to excel in their culinary skills and delight guests. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality meals for various events including weddings, corporate functions, special events and gatherings. This role also helps the Executive Chef with the management and training of staff; scheduling; food preparation and inventory; menu development; and will oversee the daily operations of the banquet kitchen. Responsibilities Prepare food according to food handling guidelines, cooking procedures, and follow any recipes. Prepare food ensuring quality taste and presentation. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations and be able to communicate food and product orders to Executive Chef. Communicate and coordinate production with other cooks, wait staff and members of the food and beverage team. Act as lead chef in the absence of the Executive Chef Perform closing procedures including equipment maintenance and shut off, cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas. Work with the team to complete other tasks as assigned. Possess knowledge and become familiar with all kitchen equipment. Observe and test foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with thermometer to determine proper preparation and cooking. Qualifications Candidates must be willing to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed. Prior kitchen work experience is required, vocational or culinary degree if preferred. Must have proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume fine dining or banquet setting.
