**Substation Physical Designer** Location **Columbus** Secondary Locations Job Code **18148** \# of openings **1** Apply Now (https://phh.tbe.taleo.net/phh04/ats/careers/v2/applyRequisition?org=POWERENGINEERS&cws=44&rid=18148) **Substation Physical Designer** **Job Summary** POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is seeking a Substation Physical Designer for the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Columbus, Ohio office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office). **Responsibilities** + This position includes working within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards + Perform the detailed Physical design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but not limited to: + One-line diagrams + Physical layouts + Substation equipment selection + Substation general arrangement plans, sections, and elevations + Control building design and details + Cable and conduit plans and details + Ground grid design and details + Lightning protection design and details + Yard lighting design and details + Material lists + AC and DC systems calculations and sizing + Work with engineers to develop drawing packages + Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Protection & Control, Structural, and Civil + Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs + Contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget management **Required Education/Experience** + Associate's degree or equivalent technical education + Experience performing design in BIM software (Inventor, P4A, Primtech) + Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with both is preferred + Understanding of electric utility substation design + Electrical and mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail + Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel, Word, and One Note + Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel + Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship **Desired Education/Experience** + 3+ years experience in electric utility substation design is preferred + Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes + Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such + Ability to select materials based on technical requirements POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
