Job Title:

Student Support Worker

12 months Fixed Term Contract, Part-time 30 hours per week (Mon-Fri day times)

National Learning Network – Hollyhill Co. Cork

 

 

Job Purpose:

To provide individualized supports to persons with additional support needs. Support includes assistance to enable them to fully participate in their programme and other support needs as required during their day.

This role will provide individualized supports to those who have complex and varying needs. Support includes intimate care, Navigation of the training environment, support with transition, postural management, social skills development and any / all assistance to enable them to fully participate in their training programme. 

 

Minimum Education & Experience required:

QQI Level 5 Health Care or Social Care qualification QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assisting or other equivalent qualification Experience of working with adults/young people with disability and managing behaviours that challenge Experience of working in a training/educational environment is desirable Disability and mental health awareness Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills Flexible and person-centred approach

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Support the student to achieve their personal goals and plans under the supervision of the instructor.  Support the student to stay on task and encourage s/he to participate fully in all aspects of their programme by following their timetable and instruction from staff.  Encourage work related skills and behaviour appropriate to the training environment. Accompanying students who may need to leave the training room and support them to re-join the class when ready.  Provide support to the students during community/ external activities and community based learning e.g. work experiences Ensure that the student has the opportunity to participate in class discussions and social interactions Provide personal care support if required

 

Additional requirements

Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of students at all times. Strong interpersonal skills Experience of working with people with disabilities an advantage As part of our recruitment process, if applicable, candidates will be required to provide a Police certificate from the countries they have resided prior coming to Ireland.

 

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign.

Salary: Starting at €25726.28 per annum pro-rata, equivalent to €13.74 per hour.
