Job Description:

We are excited to start recruitment for a Student Intern opportunity supporting the Construction Noise and Vibration Team responsible for the monitoring and measuring the acoustics and vibrations across the project’s scope, analyzing the data to recommend and ensure noise reduction, structural integrity and proposing viable technical solutions, reducing noise pollution and disruption to members of the public and workers on the project.

The duties will be varied and will focus on tasks/activities required to meet our environmental, safety and design compliance obligations. Candidates should be physically able to negotiate terrain on an in-process construction site.

Specific responsibilities include:

Working with the Field Coordinator to ensure construction is in full compliance with the Project Agreement, including matters relating to quality, safety, environment, and life cycle performance, such as Project’s ECO Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and all applicable legislation.Assisting Project Managers, Engineers, and Technicians in fulfilling multi-disciplinary geotechnical, instrumentation, noise and vibration, and condition surveys along the project alignmentAssist the Field Coordinator responsible for this area of work with the installation, commissioning, and monitoring of noise and vibration equipment and data collection networks.Assist with coordinating and performing pre-construction condition surveys, installation of noise and vibration monitoring equipment at buildings and structures for construction projects.Consistently executing prescribed company technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans while completing field and office work.Assist with recording monitoring data and preparing factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisorHelp maintain data bases of records for pre-condition survey files, calibration certificates, equipment manuals and applicable standards.When appropriate, participating in project management, site and staff planning meetings.Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts; and,Performing other related duties as required.

    

Required Knowledge and Experience

Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.Experience in the construction industry is a strong asset.Class 5 DL (GDL acceptable)Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills.Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.Organizational and time management skills.Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ service orientated.Thrive in a fast-paced environment.Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
