Posting Details Posting Information Requisition 202400193ST Title Student Employee-Academic Success Center-STEM Tutor Employee Class Student Employee College Work Study Position No Department Academic Success Center Division Division of Academic Affairs Hours per week 12 - 20 Hiring Rate 10.00 Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position STEM tutors will support students in advancing their competencies in the identified STEM courses. Sessions will be individual or groups, and conducted either face-to-face or online. A typical day will consist of assisting students with study strategies, content review/interpretation, and home assignments. Tutors will be expected to work 12 – 20 hours per week, which will be assigned based on need and availability. Additionally, tutors will continuously work toward College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification, which is part of the employee evaluation process. Other Requirements for the Position Qualifications:a. 3.0 overall GPA b. Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters.c. You must have maintained an A or B average in the course you are applying to tutor for.d. Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students.e. MUST have completed a FAFSA for the current academic term. If you have applied for FAFSA, and you qualify for Work Study, you will be asked to accept your Work Study award.
