+ Experience working with university-level students to plan and coordinate academic support / learning assistance activities and programs.
+ Ability to understand and interpret policies and procedures;
+ Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise, grammatically correct written / verbal communication, reports, proposals, and program evaluations.
+ Experience in program coordination and evaluation.
+ Skills working directly with various stakeholders such as learners, subject matter experts, faculty, staff, and administrators.
+ Experience motivating and working effectively with others.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and oral presentation skills.
+ Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while adhering to time action plans.
+ Ability to coordinate a variety of work activities and work as part of a team.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and web-based communication.
+ Earned bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Earned bachelor’s degree in STEM field.
+ Earned master’s degree in STEM , Student Affairs, Higher Education, Developmental Education, or related field.
+ One or more years of experience with Supplemental Instruction or similar program.
+ Experience in supervising multiple student employees.
+ Coursework and / or experience with research and descriptive statistics.
+ Experience in student staff recruitment, training, and supervision.
+ Experience in budget oversight or payroll management.
+ Experience using data management tools such as Qualtrics or similar applications.
+ Knowledge of current topics and education theory in higher education, particularly as they relate to academic support and / or developmental education.
+ Proficiency in the use of social media as it relates to the delivery and promotion of programs and services.
+ Experience building partnerships and collaborating across departments.
Job Description
The Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction is responsible for development and coordination of SLAC’s SI program, which includes but is not limited to: SI Leader training, scheduling, and assessment; evaluation of program goals; record keeping and payroll; workshop presentations and program promotion through online and social media platforms. Position reports directly to Assistant Director of Instructional Programs of the Student Learning Assistance Center ( SLAC ).
Job Duties
+ Recruit, hire, and supervise 30+ Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders in primarily STEM disciplines.
+ Assist with the development, planning, and execution of training for SI Leaders.
+ Coordinate the efforts of SIs designated as Team Leaders in delivering peer-to-peer feedback and in various committee initiatives such as community service, social media, and marketing.
+ Encourage and assist SI Leaders in planning study sessions that incorporate a variety of collaborative learning strategies.
+ Engage in marketing activities to promote the SI program on campus to students and faculty by making presentations, distributing informational flyers, posting session schedules, and utilizing social media and online platforms.
+ Assist with gathering and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data associated with the SI program.
+ Work closely with various institutional stakeholders such as faculty and staff.
+ Identify weaknesses or problems in the program and make recommendations for resolution.
+ Support all other SLAC programs and services.
+ Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the SLAC Director or Assistant Director.
