What We Want The Intramural Sports Coordinator will assist in the management of a comprehensive intramural sports program. This is a student-oriented position that will have a considerable focus on student supervision and development. They will also lead or assist in the administration of approximately 30-40 sports and programs each semester. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with budgeting, inventory and purchasing, marketing, risk management and emergency procedures, assessment, facility management and maintenance, event management, and programming. Responsibilities + Program Administration: Facilitates and coordinates all organizational and administrative duties for assigned sports and other events, including but not limited to team registration, league play and playoff schedules, securing appropriate equipment, interaction with facility operations and maintenance staff regarding reservations, playing schedules, game reschedules, awards, etc. Directly oversees assigned program activities. Assists with assessment and helps develop and implement rules policies for the intramural program. Assists in establishing goals of the intramural sports program. Communicates and coordinates marketing, advertising, and promotional efforts collaboratively with the marketing and communications area. Assist with inventory, purchasing, and budget oversight. Assists with developing and monitoring the risk management and emergency action plans for the program. + Student Supervision: Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates intramural student staff, including but not limited to officials, scorekeepers, site managers, official’s supervisors, office supervisors, and sport coordinators. Completes all required human resources processes and bi-weekly payroll as assigned. Maintains pertinent student employment records and certifications. + Participants and Customer Service: Interacts with program participants in a way that ensures outstanding customer service. Answers phone calls and responds to emails in a prompt manner. Greets and assists participants during regular office hours. Accepts participant feedback and adjusts programs and policies to best align with the goals of the participants. Attends games to assess program and provide opportunities for customer interaction. Works with student and other groups to organize and staff special events. Develop and work collaboratively with on and off-campus partners to provide programming that meets their needs; examples include but are not limited to Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Corps of Cadets, Residence Life, Faculty and Staff Programming, Unified Sports, Disability Services, and multiple student organizations. + Department Mission Duties: Serve on national, university, divisional, and departmental committees as needed. Assist in establishing long and short-term goals of the department. Attend local, state, and national workshops and conferences, host and present at various workshops. Maintain positive relationships within department, other university departments, community, and vendors. Assist other university staff members as requested. Interact with students, faculty, and staff for the benefit of carrying out the mission of the department. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. + One year of experience in student affairs work or related specialty. + No experience required with a master's degree. Required Licenses and Certifications: + Possess a current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire date. Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in a related field; recreation administration, sport management, higher education administration, or a comparable field. + Two or more years of experience working with intramural sports or recreation programs. + Two or more years of supervisory experience. + Demonstrated experience officiating and teaching officials for one or more sports. + Experience with relevant programming software such as Intramural Leagues. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Ability to supervise and evaluate employees. + Ability to supervise, train, and coordinate staff. + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. + Ability to keep accurate and up to date records. + Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and/or data entry applications. + Customer service oriented. + Skills in sports officiating, officials training, sports scheduling, event management, and familiarity with sports and staff scheduling software. Physical Requirements: + Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat + Ability to move light, medium or heavy objects with assistance + Some lifting/carrying of classroom/presentation materials; ability to lift, carry, load or unload up to 10lbs. of instructional materials Why Texas A&M University?
