ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Wethersfield, CT office is looking for a Summer Intern to assist the Structural and Transit & Rail Teams for the Summer of 2025. This position will introduce the student to the workplace and build essential professional skills by offering opportunities for hands-on learning in a supportive yet challenging environment. This real-world experience will round out the student’s academic learning and help them explore related areas of practice to find the best fit for their career path.
Responsibilities
Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and other consultants to advance projects in a timely mannerAssist with the development of planning and engineering solutionsAssist with engineering calculations, analysis, and report preparationAssist with completion of conceptual, preliminary, and final construction plansPerform quantity take-offs and calculations for construction estimatesPerform field investigations and data collection for new and ongoing projectsSkills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with team membersWillingness to support different engineering disciplinesSelf-motivated with attention to detailGood time management skills and the ability to meet deadlineA strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieveKnowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS; MicroStation experience, or the desire/ability to learn, a plusKnowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) requiredQualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldVHB does not provide housing for interns.
