Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structural Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to supervise and inspect the structural works related to the Project.
What You'll Be Doing:
Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.Performs inspection activities which may include the following: * Demolition of various structural elements, activities related to the construction of structures such as reservoirs, lifting stations landscaping structure, lagoons, swimming pools, substations, retaining walls, tunnels, bridges etc.Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations, and writes daily diaries.Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract.Verifies only approved materials are incorporated in the work.Performs labor compliance interviews and maintains as-built plans.Recognizes potential conflicts, issues, and problems; identifies possible solutions and advises supervisor.Collects, reviews, and files Certificate of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), inspection tags, and other information relevant to the materials used.Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.Coordinates work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.Assists with the development of job safety practices and reports.Supports the creation of quality control procedures and reports.Responds to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site.Documents nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.Performs work in safe manner and is cognizant of public safety.Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Diploma or bachelor degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent5+ years of work experience in the capacity of structural inspector within the regionKnowledge of public works contracts and construction related processesAbility to read and interpret plans and specifications
Effective math skills including knowledge of engineering calculations, graphs, and chartsKnowledge of basic computer applications to include; Microsoft Office, Project Management Software, and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent)Ability to understand and comply with project requirements as applicable based on client and industry standardsEffective diary and reporting skillsKnowledge of English grammar and compositionUnderstanding of schedulingAbility to review progress pay estimates and extra work billsAbility to recognize hazardous work conditions and take necessary action(s) to mediate the situationEffective time management skills to proactively prepare for work assignmentAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work cohesively in a team and/or dynamic work environmentAbility to use good judgement and work with othersWhat Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Authority Certification/approvals in related field and HSE trainings will be advantage.Construction safety training, including 10 hours of OSHA training, is desiredMinimum Clearance Required to Start:
