Job Title: Fully Remote Structural Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing structural systems for bulk material handling, including conveyors, silos, hoppers, chutes, and supporting structures. This role requires strong technical skills in structural analysis, material behavior, and industry codes, and the candidate should be on a clear pathway to obtaining or have obtained a PE license in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Responsibilities
+ Design and analyze structural systems for the support of bulk material handling equipment, such as conveyors, silos, hoppers, bins, and supporting steel and concrete structures.
+ Perform load calculations for static and dynamic forces, including material loads, wind, seismic, and equipment-induced forces.
+ Develop engineering reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural designs.
+ Utilize STAAD.Pro for structural modeling and analysis.
+ Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards, including AISC, ASCE, ACI, IBC, and OSHA & MSHA regulations.
+ Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, CAD designers, and construction managers to integrate structural designs with bulk handling systems.
+ Conduct site visits and structural inspections to ensure proper implementation of designs.
+ Provide technical guidance to drafters.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in steel structure design and reinforced concrete.
+ Experience with structural analysis and dynamic loading, vibration analysis, and fatigue analysis.
+ Understanding of material flow mechanics and wear considerations in bulk handling structures.
+ Experience with Bentley Software, including STAAD.Pro for structural analysis and design.
+ Experience with MicroStation for Computer-Aided Design.
+ Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
+ Familiarity with relevant building and industrial codes (AISC, ASCE, ACI, IBC, OSHA).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in structural design and analysis; experience in the bulk material handling industry is a plus but not required.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil/Structural Engineering or a clear path toward licensure.
+ Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Work Environment
100% fully remote role, if you are in the Columbus, OH area you have the option to come into the office on a hybrid schedule. The work environment offers the potential to be hybrid a couple of days a week, balancing on-site presence with remote work. The office is small and family-like, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where all departments work together. The team is diverse, with a range of age groups throughout the office, providing a supportive environment with room for growth as several upper-level employees are expected to retire in the next decade.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $52.88/hr.
