Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a degreed engineer with 5-10 years of structural engineering experience for an Engineer III, Civil Structural role. The candidate will be responsible for the development of the plant site layout and civil/structural design for buildings and structures of the plant. This role involves site development (grading & excavating), storm water management, and right of way planning. The position requires working collaboratively with a multi-disciplined team of engineers and suppliers to coordinate the successful design of structural buildings and structures, supporting key objectives in sustainability, economics, reliability, and safety in power generation units.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement plant site layout and civil/structural design for buildings and structures.Plan, monitor, and direct complete engineering efforts through project life cycles.Develop and implement risk-informed performance-based (RIPB) design criteria.Assist teams in performing risk and hazard assessments, including probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), failure modes effects analysis (FMEA), and hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP).Evaluate constructability, sequencing, material take-off, cost estimate, schedule development, and modularization concepts for the plant.Apply civil engineering codes and standards to develop and implement risk-informed and performance-based structural design criteria.Execute system or component performance measures such as risk management, scheduling/program planning, document management, cost adherence/variance analysis, earned value, and deliverables status.Essential SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Civil 3D.Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field.5-10 years of structural engineering experience.Experience with the analysis, design, evaluation, and/or construction of civil structures, including industrial structures, commercial and residential buildings, power generation facilities, and infrastructure.Understanding of civil engineering fundamentals, such as mechanics, materials, construction techniques, codes and standards, environmental and economic impact, and professional ethics.Experience with site development, grading, roadway, survey, storm water, hydrology, or soil mechanics.Additional Skills & QualificationsEIT or PE preferred.Experience with Python.Work Environment

The position requires working in the office 5 days a week in Rockville, MD, with 10-20% travel for a week at a time. The organization is focused on the cutting edge of clean energy systems development, with significant investment from major companies, poised for growth and expansion.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.73 - $91.29/hr.
