Structural Analysis Engineer, Structural Integrity and Analysis
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

To deliver on that mission, Amazon is looking for talented candidates who combine superb technical, research and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. We’re looking for people who innovate and love solving hard problems and building hardware. You will work hard, have fun, and make history!

This structural analysis engineer must have a background in spacecraft development, and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate.

A day in the life
This Structures Analysis Engineer will be a SME in secondary and tertiary structures. They perform classical hand calculations for initial sizing and verification while developing detailed finite element models for complex load cases and dynamic responses. Time is split between creating automated analysis tools in Excel/MATLAB to streamline recurring calculations and supporting structural testing activities. They continuously correlate analysis predictions with test data to validate models and improve future predictions. The role demands fluid movement between system-level understanding and local detailed analysis while maintaining rigorous documentation and configuration control of all analytical work.

About the team
The Structural Integrity and Analysis team is responsible for Structural Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of Mechanical Engineering group.
