The Strategy Analyst is responsible for supporting the strategic development, tactical implementation, and evaluation of potential initiatives to promote future growth and innovation for The Walt Disney Company in Australia and New Zealand. The Strategy Analyst will be a creative and curious business enthusiast that keeps up to date with current and emerging trends across the media, entertainment, retail and technology sectors. The Strategy team in ANZ is a key part of the APAC Strategy team, with whom they work on regional topics, and locally supports the territory Managing Director, Head of Finance and divisional heads on key issues of strategic importance that span across The Walt Disney Company’s Australian and New Zealand operations.
Key responsibilities:
Strategy & Business Development Support
Support the Strategy team to define and analyse critical new business development opportunities across the full spectrum of Disney activity in the territory, including Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), Studio, Media Distribution, Stage/Live Events and RetailLeverage data and research to test hypotheses generated to support the territory’s ongoing assessment of its growth objectives and business opportunitiesAnalysis of key market trends and competitors to provide insights and implications to the businessConstruct models, valuations and business cases in support of new business and growth opportunitiesCreate compelling, persuasive presentation materials to communicate key learnings and recommendations to senior level executivesCoordinate and consolidate various ongoing reports/presentations, business cases and ad hoc analysesJoin and support working groups, comprised of Cast Members across the business such as DTC Analytics, Finance and ANZ Strategy and Insights, to support ongoing growth of Disney+Keep updated on news and issues explored in the media and periodically share key insights arising with the Strategy team and, as appropriate, senior management across the businessStrategic Planning
Work with the senior business unit executives to drive the strategic development process, notably the 5 Year & Annual Operating planning processesResearch and prepare outlooks for key macroeconomic, segment and market drivers to inform business cases and strategic planning across all business areasDirect-to-Consumer Strategy & Operations
Partner closely with the DTC team to provide support on key business priorities and operations including Content, Marketing, Product and PartnershipsConvert research and analysis into operational insights and tactical recommendations for different Disney+ stakeholders such as content planning, operational improvement initiatives and partnership evaluationProject Management
Prioritise and manage multiple projects at any one time and with minimal direction from their managerWork effectively with team members throughout Australia and New Zealand as well as in other areas of The Walt Disney Company – regionally and in the USIdeal skills Required:
Undergraduate degreeA minimum of 1-2 years of experience within a corporate strategy or operations team, consulting firm, or other professional services firmExperience in media, technology, loyalty programs, subscription models, digital advertising and start-up environments viewed favourably but not essentialVery strong analytical and modelling skills:Ability to synthesise and distil key trends/take-outs out of large and/or disparate data setsAbility to communicate insights from analysis through oral and written form including use of charts and conceptual frameworksUse of a structured approach to develop analyses, noting key assumptions and limitationsFamiliarity with key local market data sources & limitations e.g. ABS, Roy Morgan, NZ Stat etc.Excellent quantitative skillsExcellent interpersonal skills:Ability to work well with a variety of business partners and diverse local, regional and Domestic US stakeholdersFamiliarity and compliance with strict commercial confidentiality disciplinesAbility to work with discretion and objectivity on internally sensitive topicsWell-established technical skills:Highly proficient Microsoft Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint and WordExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAdditional Information:
