Strategy Advisor
The Strategy team will support the bp leadership team in setting the group’s long-term strategic direction for bp’s portfolio. As a Strategy Advisor in bp’s Strategy team, you will be supporting the development of the next generation of bp’s corporate and business strategies & policies, working across the strategy team on a variety of bp’s core functions. This is an integrated role, reliant on having a broad knowledge of the energy sector and outstanding data analytical skills to provide robust insights in support of strategy development.
In this role You will:
Strategy development and innovation: solve complex business challenges by applying a hypothesis-led approach to developing strategies and policy positions. Develop strategic plans and execution roadmaps to support the development of functional strategies across the bp businessesProject leadership: lead and run the day-to-day operations of strategy & policy projects across a variety of scales (time and complexity), including work planning sessions and stand-ups. Track project performance against plans and timelines and identify areas for improvement, including collaboration with key business collaboratorsPartner relationship management: act as a primary contact for business and integrating function collaborators through the lifecycle of a projectStrategy communication: developing, preparing and presenting materials which effectively communicate solutions and strategies for a diverse range of audiences, including bp’s businesses, integrating functions, and bp LT, as per project requirementStrategic origination: stay updated with industry trends and standard methodologies, and actively monitor market movements to identify new strategic business opportunities aligned with bp’s strategic directionDevelopment and coaching: support the development of team capabilities by coaching and mentoring junior colleagues across the Strategy team in technical and non-technical areas and provide quality control on finished productsThought leadership: contribute to bp’s intellectual capital by sharing knowledge and insights within the strategy team and across bp through business workshops and team interactionsWhat You will need to be successful:
Fluency in EnglishMultiple years of experience in the energy sector or top tier professional service firm and/or demonstrable cross-industry skillsMinimum Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in; business, economics, engineering, science, or other relevant fields.Proven track record of leading projects and associated project teams - originating, initiating and developing projects, mobilising teams, coordinating timelines and deliverables, and motivating team members.Problem solving and critical thinking: demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies that drive significant business improvements, and which are aligned with bp’s overarching strategy.Strong partner relationship skills: experience in building and maintaining relationships, understanding needs, and delivering high-quality solutions.Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills: ability to lead workshops, communicate strategy, and facilitate discussions with diverse audiences including senior partners.Strong financial competence: robust understanding of and ability to communicate project and business financial metrics and ability to develop commercial models.At bp, we provide the following environment & benefits to you:
