Job Description:
The Strategic Procurement and Contract Services (SPC) office supports the research, teaching, and operations of Brown University by leveraging the University’s procurement power to 1) optimize the value of the purchase of goods and services, 2) deliver outstanding customer service, 3) drive sustainable and ethical business practices, and 4) support supplier diversity goals.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Analyst (SSA) will engage in strategic sourcing as a departmental liaison and generalist to assist in optimizing operational efficiencies in accordance with SPC and University identified priorities. The SSA must become a hands-on operative capable of immediate action and prioritizing multiple projects / tasks. The SSA will perform high level administrative and analytical functions related to strategic sourcing initiatives, including administration of project management platforms, data collection and analysis, reporting on spend and metrics, strategic supplier contract / performance management for general categories of spend, and special projects as needed. The SSA will be responsible for facilitating RFPs and conducting end-user training for strategic supplier programs and processes.
Major Responsibilities:
work closely with Strategic Sourcing staff to develop communications and promote strategic sourcing at Brown c
conduct outreach to University departments and Strategic Suppliers regarding general Supplier Performance / Relationship Management and buying cooperative participation agreements
responsible for facilitating RFPs and conducting business reviews with suppliers that fall under general categories and managing those contracts, as well as assisting end users with issue resolution
provide high level customer service and guidance in response to incoming departmental inquiries to assist in troubleshooting issues and ensuring that needs are met
advise and collaborate with Procurement Operations staff on strategic sourcing initiatives and suppliers
point of contact and lead for various special projects and unique requests / needs that arise that do not fall under an established managed category of spend
review and approve procurement requisitions
responsible for regular reporting on various types of spend and metrics and conducting spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and inform data-driven decisions in the development of category strategies and evaluation of supplier performance against applicable KPIs
create and maintain data models and dashboards to provide visibility into procurement performance and key metrics
work closely with University stakeholders, the SPC Reports Team, and Workday Program to refine and develop custom reports as needed
outreach to departments to influence buying behavior and promote utilization of Strategic Suppliers and the E-Procurement Marketplace to support spend consolidation efforts that result in increased efficiencies and cost savings
meet with leads from support areas within the University to identify areas of interest for future strategic supplier target areas
management and administration of project / program platforms and systems, such as those related to project workspaces, e-sourcing, e-marketplace, business analytics and reporting, and supplier performance management, including facilitation of process steps related to the supplier scorecards and business review meetings (QBR) schedule
oversight of and providing direction for the utilization of the University’s Amazon Business, UPS Campus Ship, and FedEx program platforms and management of those suppliers and contracts
Job Qualifications and
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years of relative experience in the procurement (or relevant) industry with emphasis on data analysis or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Competencies:
Expenditure data analysis and reporting for large / complex business enterprises
Experience facilitating RFP processes from development to contract negotiation and award
Strong project management, time management, contraction negotiation, and customer service skills
Strong oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills to communicate effectively with, and influence stakeholders
High level of computing proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Tools (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work with database software (e.g., FilmakerPro, SmartSheets or custom database systems).
Possess a functioning knowledge of Workday or other ERP systems, such as Jaggaer E Procurement.
