About this position
Assumes responsibility for planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating the daily operations of SPD, Case Cart, Instrument Room and Soiled Receiving areas of SPD. Plans, schedules, performs and documents current new product, instrumentation/equipment or procedural changes within the guidelines established by the department, Infection Control, - ---North Memorial Health Care policies, as well as other regulatory agencies. Orders and monitors supply usage and manages financial resources within the established budget and seeks approval for variances as needed. Acts as a liaison and develops working relationships between other departments to facilitate patient care and support daily departmental activities. Works with SPD Shift Coordinatorto direct department orientation and education to ensure that the staff is trained within the established guidelines, maintains appropriate staffing levels as indicated according to established department budget needs, develops monthly staffing schedule and posts in a timely manner. Receives vacation requests and determines approval status and monitors attendance according to the established guidelines. Monitors for proper function of sterilization equipment and validates records and biological testing. Coordinates with SPD Manager and Human Resources, employee disciplinaryaction with the appropriate documentation, consults with SPD Manager and Labor Relations Manager for interpretation of union contract, completes and performs employee reviews and monitors employee performance improvement processes. Communicates routinely with leadership in areas serviced and troubleshoots instrumentation to provide efficient and quality customer service. Interviews applicants, makes recommendations for hire to SPD Manager and Human Resources.
Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Sterile Processing Technician certification required within the first year.
Experience
• Minimum five years SPD experience working in an acute care facility including experience with surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Minimum one year supervisory experience. • Demonstrated knowledge in applying infection control practices and knowledge of sterile processing functions. (Manual decontamination, inspection and assembly of surgical instrumentation and processing function).
• Ability to direct, coach and supervise people.
• Knowledge of personal computers and related software. (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Ability to work a variety of shifts.
Licensure/Certification
• HSPA CRCST or CSPDT

Salary Range: N16 ($26.15 - $39.23), based on experience
