The System Educator for Sterile Processing develops and implements training programs for Cayuga Health System's Sterile Processing Department (SPD), ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and hospital policies. This role enhances SPD processes through education and quality initiatives, supporting both new and existing staff. The educator is responsible for creating a culture of learning, evaluating staff competencies, and collaborating with leadership to drive quality improvement efforts.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop and deliver orientation and ongoing training programs for SPD staff, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.\nDesign and maintain educational materials, policies, and procedures related to sterilization, decontamination, and equipment handling.\nAssess staff training needs, create individualized learning plans, and document educational outcomes and competencies.\nConduct quality audits and data analysis, providing feedback and recommendations for process improvements.\nCollaborate with leadership to establish departmental goals, evaluate compliance with policies, and implement performance improvement initiatives.\nServe as the subject matter expert to educate clinical staff on SPD-related practices and protocols.\nTravel to various locations to provide education and support to clinic management and staff.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nEducation: High school diploma required; some college preferred.\nExperience: 3-5 years of experience in sterile processing, with prior leadership or educational experience preferred.\nLicensure: Certified by CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management).\nSkills: Proficiency in developing training programs and conducting competency evaluations.\nStrong analytical and organizational skills for quality improvement and compliance tracking.\nExcellent communication and collaboration abilities to engage staff and leadership.\n\n

Physical Requirements:\n\nAbility to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform tasks involving repetitive motion.\nFrequent standing, walking, and stooping during training and quality assurance activities.\nManual dexterity and visual acuity for handling equipment and reviewing documentation.\n\n
\n

Location, Travel, and Shift Requirements:\n\nLocation: Onsite at Cayuga Health System facilities with travel to various clinics as needed.\nTravel: Up to 25% travel required for training and support at multiple locations.\nShift: Full-time role with variable shifts, including occasional evenings or weekends, to support off-shift training and quality assurance.\n\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n

Standard Rate of $34.62 - $46.15 per hour plus benefits\n
