Position summary:
Under indirect supervision, provides a product that has been made safe and/or sterile for patient care. Assures proper decontamination, disinfection, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of medical instruments, equipment and medical supplies. Takes responsibility for assignments. Provides clear and concise communication when responding to phone request. Maintains quality standards by adhering to local, regional, infection control, and regulatory agencies (Title 22 requirement, AORN and ANSI/AAMI standards). Coordinates with all customer departments to assure supplies and equipment are provided for daily operations. May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certified Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD) or must be able to obtain (CRCST) certification within six months of hire date
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) months experience in Sterile Processing and Surgery or completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program with four hundred and eighty hours (480) of the clinical externship; ability to lift and carry twenty-five (25) pounds; capable of pushing and pulling carts; tolerate prolonged standing; possess effective verbal and written communication skills, e.g., phone etiquette; able to perform basic mathematical calculations and be computer literate; able to work effectively in a team environment; knowledge and understanding of ANSIA/AAMI, AORN and title 22 standards
Preferred Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and microbiology; experience working with general instrumentation, house wide kits and trays and surgical trays; working knowledge of HIVAC, Gravity displacement sterilizers, Scope Re-processors, Ultrasonic, Washer Decontaminators and processing equipment.
$19.31-$27.18 hourly. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
