Overview of Role
To analyse and interpret business challenges and requirements through the application of various statistical analysis techniques
To provide continuous technical and analytical statistical support to the business
To mentor and coach junior team members to ensure understanding and application of best practices / principals
Daily engagement with senior executive level individuals in the company to help drive business strategy
Help with the design and development of account acquisition and account management strategies across the credit life cycle
Liaise with and provide input into other departments to facilitate efficient implementation and execution of credit risk policies and scorecards
Key Performance Areas
To identify and understand the nature of business problem and assist the various business areas in defining information requirements
Analyse design and propose solutions to the business problem
Provide relevant outputs/ information for rectification of the business problem
Provide support and guidance to endusers assist users with data mining and predictive modeling and creating statistics
Develop own knowledge and skills in the area of statistical analysis and be able to operate independently within the function
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12/ Matric or National Certificate
Relevant 3 year degree with a major in Mathematics / Statistics ie BComm Statistics B Informatics with 3 years relevant experience in statistical analysis
Relevant postgraduate degree with a major in Mathematics / Statistics ie BSc Honours Statistics would be advantageous
Knowledge
Experience must include the following using a data warehouse
Data analysis
Information management
Knowledge management
Data mining and/or predictive modelling
Knowledge of
Knowledge of analytics
Knowledge of project management methodologies
Knowledge of table and database structures
Technical understanding and knowledge different operating systems / databases / programming languages
General business acumen
Experience required in retail credit risk management environment would be advantageous
Skills
Knowledge of the retail credit environment / industry Basel II SAS Cognos or Qlikview would be preferred
Business acumen with regards to understanding technical issues and the impact these may have on the design and delivery of business solutions
Computer literacy Advanced MS Excel / Access
SAS or SQL
