Summary:
The Stationary Engineer reports to the Maintenance and Repair Supervisor. Under general supervision is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Brown University Health Corporate Services and other site mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
Operates high pressure steam boilers compressors and central chilled water systems including cooling towers pumps gauges and controls periodically adjusts controls as required and maintains systems for the duty station assigned.
Performs periodic tests of boiler feed water and cooling water analyzes results and provides appropriate chemical treatment to maintain established chemical balance to prevent damage to systems.
Monitors building management boiler and chiller systems and operations of the Coro heating boilers/Off Site Locations; troubleshoots alarms performs adjustments as required and notifies Supervisor of unresolved problems.
Monitors alarm systems including boilers chillers refrigeration and HVAC systems; reports abnormalities to the Supervisor if emergency conditions exist.
Makes necessary repairs to malfunctioning equipment such as replacement of fan belts replacing and rebuilding pumps replacing seals bearings motors and filters.
May operate maintain and test emergency electrical generators and related systems in accordance with government regulations.
Assists with snow and ice removal at the Coro building complex using equipment provided by Brown University Health.
Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with hospital department policies procedures and objectives.
Performs other related duties as required.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Equivalent to completion of four years of high school plus four years apprenticeship training required for City of Providence licensing examination.
City of Providence Stationery Engineer license required.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one year of related experience is required.
The physical ability to work in a number of areas climb ladders carry tools lift moderately heavy equipment.
