Staff Software Engineer

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be working on designing, architecting, and implementing highly scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant backend systems. You will champion integrating observability, scalability, and reliability at every stage of the SDLC. You will work with the team to generate ideas on ways we can evolve our services to meet the needs of the business. You will be part of the Investigation team in our cybersecurity business unit and will be working on building both data processing pipelines and APIs/queries layer to search/aggregate large amounts of data.

 

Responsibilities

Evaluate requirements, define technical specifications, review design and communicate to stakeholders. Lead, organize, and participate in cross-team discussions on system design and architecture Participate in interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring junior engineers Write scalable systems to store/index large amounts of data and performant queries/aggregations on that data Participate in an on-call rotation to manage incidents and support the services you have developed Drive root cause identification and issue resolution with the various data infrastructure teams.

Required Qualifications and Skills

People leader with the technical chops to drive work forward, mentor those around you, and raise the talent bar for the team. Staff/Lead has implications of leadership and we need that from the start. Experience in backend development with Scala, Java, Golang, or Python. Scala or Java preferred  Experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases. We also use DynamoDB and others. Experience with Kafka. Competency with modern CI/CD tooling like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible & Jenkins A desire to see features through from development to deployment in production environments You believe in small and frequent product releases and deployments. Experience in an on-call rotation and the mindset that you and your team are responsible for the product support for the products you build and deploy.

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $183,000 - $248,000. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, location, and experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible to participate in our bonus or commission plans, as well as our benefits offerings, and equity awards.
