Summary

 

Skyworks Cedar Rapids design team has leading R&D and product development capabilities and is seeking engineering talent with expertise in RF/microwave, RFIC design, Acoustic Filter and PA product development to meet rapidly increasing customer demand. When you join our team in Cedar Rapids, you’ll join a uniquely collaborative, multi-discipline engineering community who support each other working across our domestic design centers creating cutting edge products for global markets. You’ll be paired with an experienced mentor to help support you as an integral part of a team responsible for designing multi-chip module including PA, LNA, acoustic filters, PA and Switches.

Job Responsibilities

 

You will have opportunities to participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug and production support

 As the hub of front-end module design, you will drive the front-end design and work with a multi-discipline team developing PA, RF switches, LNA, acoustic filters to achieve optimum module performance for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market

You will directly interact with customer about Pin I/O, size, performance spec and provide suggestion/solution

Own floor-planning which including module pinouts, package size, signal flows plan, package technology, link budget, etc. 

Take a lead on the new technology/architecture suggestion with comprehensive and accurate analysis

Drive front-end module design methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency

Drive the module design review and tapeout

Get involve and support the new package technology development 

Engage in EDA design tool development

Required Skills/Experience

 

Strong understanding in RF/microwave fundamentals such as impedance matching, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, circuit stability and Electromagnetic theory 

Solid understanding in module building blocks, including Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Switches and Couplers, Filters and Multi-chip Module

Relevant experience in (micro-strip/strip line stack up) multi-chip module (MCM), PA, LNA , RF switch design or passive circuit design such as integrated passive device, coupler, BAW/SAW filters and balun

Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS, 2.5/3D EM tools such as ADS Momentum/EMX, HFSS and Cadence and ability to translate between the model, simulation, physical implementation, and measured performance

Demonstrated lab skills in data collection/analysis, lab debug/tuning and product troubleshooting

A self-starter and team player with strong desire and commitment to take product from concept to volume production

Strong communication skills and logic reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, report progress and execute to schedule

Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years’ experience or Ph.D +3 years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications

 

Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/LTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth

Solid understanding of device and process technologies

Experience in system architecture, circuit topology and MCM floorplan

Experience in FEM product development and customer interaction

Good understanding on acoustic filter such as SAW, BAW filters

Experience in co-sim of multiple technologies such as digital, analog and RF circuit

Familiar with lab instruments including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers and Load-pull Tuners

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $112,500 - $215,900 per year.. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
