Responsibilities

The Infusion Nurse administers various types of IV therapies based on orders from Physicians and other medical professionals. IV Nurses offer comfort to patients as they deliver medications intravenously. Specific duties and responsibilities to consider for an IV Therapy Nurse job description include:

 

Assessing patients before IV treatmentsAdministering medications, vitamins and other fluids through IV lines, ports and central linesCollecting samples and reviewing lab resultsMonitoring patients throughout infusions to identify issues earlyResponding to side effects or reactions to treatmentsExplaining procedures to patients and familiesCollaborating with other care team membersMaintaining detailed records of all patient care Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.     Current and valid state RN License.

2.     Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3.     Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
