Staff Mechanical Engineer (Kansas City)
**Description** Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, and industrial facilities. Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry. Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of mechanical systems, utilize fluid dynamic simulation software, and identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization efforts. Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. Design and implementation of mechanical systems for power generation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions and optimize mechanical designs, enhancing efficiency and reliability across various power generation facilities. Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, and industrial facilities. Performs field inspections, measurements and calculations for public and private clients. Primarily domestic travel up to 25% of the time is required based on project needs, with the potential for international travel. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Multiple positions available. **Qualifications** Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus three (3) years of mechanical engineering experience. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus two (2) years of mechanical engineering experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of described experience. Must have two (2) years of experience with the following: + Standard engineering techniques and procedures + AutoCAD + Navisworks by Autodesk (3D Modeling Program) + AFT Arrow + AFT Fathom + Hydraulic analysis + Thermodynamics + Mechanical System Design + Piping Engineering + Piping Design + Contract Management + Specification Development + Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote) + Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams + Process Flow Diagrams + Equipment Sizing + Valve Sizing + Industry Codes & Standards (ASME, NFPA, ASTM) Primarily domestic travel up to 25% of the time is required based on project needs, with the potential for international travel.
