Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to support a large railway project in Albany, involving the drilling of a natural gas pipeline below the railroad. The successful candidate will oversee drilling activities, ensuring the soil and rock are suitable for drilling, and participate in field assignments, geotechnical construction observation, and special inspections. Effective communication with contractors, clients, and team members is essential. Weekend, overtime, and limited overnight and interstate travel may be required.
ResponsibilitiesOversee drilling activities and ensure soil and rock suitability for drilling.Participate in field assignments, including observation of geotechnical construction.Conduct construction observation and special inspections.Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and team members.Collect and analyze data related to soil sampling and testing.Essential Skills1-2 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering.Experience with soils classification and preparation of construction observation documents.Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.Proficiency in MS Office platforms (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).Experience in geotechnical engineering, soil sampling, and materials testing.Consistent means of transportation to/from project sites.Additional Skills & QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license.Experience with AutoCAD.Comfortable working in construction environments.Passed drug testing requirements.Work Environment
Work 12-hour shifts from 6am to 6pm for 14 consecutive days, followed by 3 days off. This is a 6-month project. The role offers the opportunity to work with a leading architecture and engineering firm that has a national footprint and a fast-growing, family-oriented office environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
