Overview TRC is seeking a highly motivated entry- or junior-level Environmental/Civil Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist to join our Engineering, Construction, and Remediation practice in Rancho Cordova, CA. The position focuses on a candidate seeking to develop technical skills to support various environmental consulting services, including environmental assessment/inspection, data analysis, and reporting. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of task/project managers, integrate with our diverse regional team, and demonstrate motivation to support various field and technical efforts. Responsibilities Perform field investigations that include site reconnaissance; natural resource documentation; soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations; and oversight of drilling, trenching, and excavation work. Collect multimedia samples (air, water, soil, soil-vapor) for field and laboratory testing. Perform storm water compliance inspections for construction, industrial, and municipal sites, including storm water sampling and recommendation of corrective measures. Record and interpret data; coordinate analyses; compare findings to relevant studies, screening levels, and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Work with Task Leaders and Project Managers to scope, cost, plan, and execute environmental investigation and remediation projects. Develop work plans and health & safety plans and coordinate with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to execute projects. Prepare Phase I and II investigation summary and site closure reports for submittal to agencies. Support compliance efforts including permitting, environmental monitoring, utility inspection, and public outreach in accordance with project specifications and requirements. Work with a field team to perform natural resource inspections and surveys in remote areas to support project planning and permitting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, geology, civil or environmental engineering) 0-3 years of environmental consulting experience Knowledge of environmental data collection, identification, investigation, and data entry Requires up to 50% local travel for field work OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, including current annual refresher (preferred) Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification (preferred) Ability to work independently or in a project team, with demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications and team-building skills Ability to demonstrate responsibility and accountability to perform assigned tasks to completion Ability to grasp scientific concepts, apply them to different technical challenges, exercise professional judgement, and ask questions to further understanding Experience with field data collection methods, including electronic collection of field observations, soil/rock logging, and soil/water sampling Ability to learn through on-the-job experience and retain knowledge for progressive development Working knowledge of health and safety practices Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; AutoCAD or GIS skills, desired Valid driver’s license required Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check Must have ability to work in ambient environments for extended periods of time Ability to regularly travel; hours may vary. Small projects may be 1 day to 1 week. Large projects could require traveling to the job site for 1 to 4 months. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
