As the Staff Engineer - Front End Innovation, you will play a pivotal role in creating new capabilities, pioneering agile innovation methodologies, and taking consumer-driven solutions from concept to market.
This position is based in our Vertical Building, the innovation hub at Dart’s Technical Center in Mason, Michigan, and reports directly to the Vice President of Innovation & Product Development. You’ll spearhead efforts to design and implement agile experiments and strategies to bring new products, business models, and channels to life.
What You'll Do
Drive innovation by delivering long-term strategic solutions aligned with company objectives. Lead the development and execution of sustainability initiatives and technical advancements in packaging. Identify and evaluate emerging packaging technologies and build a competitive advantage through technical breakthroughs. Accelerate innovation by creating iterative development processes and testing solutions in real-world market conditions. Champion Dart’s sustainability strategy and ensure alignment with global packaging and plastics initiatives. Provide leadership in developing and advancing packaging sustainability claims, in collaboration with legal and regulatory teams. Manage relationships with external partners and consultants to expand innovation capabilities.
What You'll Bring
Master’s degree with an emphasis in Engineering and ten (10) years of engineering related experience or Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Engineering and fifteen (15) years of engineering related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products Proven track record in leading innovation pipelines and successfully launching new technologies. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models Advanced knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products Excellent verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information and clearly explain options and solutions to internal and external customers Prefer experience in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) or related industries Prefer expertise in packaging technology development (injection molding, fiber-based packaging, etc.). Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, additional travel may be required during critical projects or business demands Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
