Staff Engineer - Environmental Barrier Coatings

As a Coatings Staff Engineer/Technologist, you will work in the Coatings development and industrialization lab leading projects focused on the development, optimization, and industrialization of coatings manufacturing processes for current and future engine programs. This is a hands-on role that will require you to collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain teams to impact short-term and long-term business goals. **Job Description** **Roles and Responsibilities:** + Lead development, industrialization, and production support projects for Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBC) + Leverage expertise to projects focused on improving quality, performance, and cost for current production coatings + Develop strategy for applying coatings technology to existing and future business needs + Provide leadership, technical guidance, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and personnel working assigned projects + Participate, present, and provide feedback using your experience and expertise in technical and program reviews + Deliver low-rate production process and technology transfer to full rate production sources for next generation coatings + Drive rigor for a safety, quality, and Lean mindset within lab environment + Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance and capability improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions + Lead and participate on teams assigned to address organizational and lab initiatives + Develop and implement practices for documentation of projects, lessons learned, and training modules **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university + Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing position **Desired Characteristics:** + Bachelor of Science or graduate degree from an accredited university or college in Material Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering + Knowledge and experience with aerospace coatings, chemical processes, and/or special process quality systems + Experience related to coating equipment such as thermal spray and CVD + Desire to work safely in a hands-on environment to execute assigned projects + Desire to continue to grow individual skills and supports growth within the team + Desire to continuously improve processes and procedures + Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn​ + Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively​ + Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed ​ + Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative​ + Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker Healthcare benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; access to a Health Coach, a 24/7 nurse-based resource; and access to the Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services.
