Staff Engineer, IT – Microsoft 365 Administration and Compliance

General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft 365 Administrator with a focus on compliance to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, particularly in the areas of compliance, data lifecycle management, and information protection. This role will be responsible for ensuring our organization's data is managed securely and in compliance with legal, security, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with legal, IT security, and other relevant parties to understand and develop data retention and information protection policies to meet legal and regulatory requirements.

Implement and manage Microsoft 365 compliance solutions, including data retention policies, labeling, and data loss prevention (DLP) for all M365 collaboration services including SharePoint, Exchange, and Teams.

Oversee the configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Purview to ensure data governance and compliance.

Create and manage sensitivity labels and retention labels to protect and govern data.

Monitor and audit compliance activities to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Provide training and support to staff on compliance-related topics and best practices.

Collaborate with other IT team members to integrate compliance solutions with existing systems and workflows.

Stay up-to-date with the latest Microsoft 365 compliance features and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with Microsoft 365 administration including SharePoint, Teams and Exchange, with a focus on compliance and data governance.

Strong understanding of Microsoft Purview, data retention policies, labeling (encryption and rights management), and DLP.

Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate or similar certification.

SharePoint Administration including familiarity and/or experience with SharePoint Advanced Management

Experience with other compliance tools and technologies.

Knowledge of information security principles and practices

Minimum Qualifications:

• 4+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
OR
7+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements:
• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 20 lbs.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$116,800.00 - $175,200.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
